In the middle of the night, Nina (17), a bare-footed beauty, runs from a car in which a man sits, with a gun pointed at her. Nina hides in the staircase of a crumbling building as a disoriented lady named Carmela (78) emerges from her apartment. She approaches Nina: "My Dana, you came back to me," mistaking Nina for her granddaughter. In a split-second decision, Nina follows Carmela into her apartment to seek refuge, escaping the man she loves, who also wants her dead, and the other men lurking outside waiting to pull the trigger. Nina is the only witness to what happened that very night, which resulted in the death of Coral, a 19-year-old girl. As the only witness to the murder, Nina becomes a prime target, forcing her to flee for her life.
Between the big city and her quiet desert hometown, between Tel Aviv and the USA, a turbulent, thrilling, and touching plot weaves itself; about families seeking redemption and connection, and about strangers and the unexpected places where love grows.
Based on the best-selling novel by Lihi Lapid.
